Highlights of the visit by the First Mayor of Hamburg and the German business delegation to Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City

On October 13, 2026, Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City welcomed Dr. Peter Tschentscher, First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, as part of his official visit to Vietnam, accompanied by a high-level business delegation from Hamburg.

Executive Luncheon – Continuing the Dialogue, Advancing Partnerships

A key highlight of the visit was the Executive Luncheon, co-organized by the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) and the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA) at the Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City.

Attendees included Dr. Peter Tschentscher, First Mayor of the City of Hamburg, and Ms. Andrea Sühl, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City, alongside members of the Hamburg delegation and representatives of the German business community.

Also in attendance were Mr. Horst Geicke, Chairman and Investor of Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Elmar Dutt, CEO of Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Peter Kompalla, Chief Representative of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam); and Mr. Alexander Ziehe, Chairman of the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA).

The gathering provided an opportunity for direct dialogue between Hamburg's leadership and German business representatives in Vietnam, strengthening professional networks and exploring potential areas of cooperation.

As part of the broader delegation program at Deutsches Haus, Hamburg business representatives also visited the offices such as Kühne Logistics University (KLU), a Hamburg-based university specializing in logistics, management, and sustainability.

The visit of Hamburg's First Mayor reaffirmed Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City's role as a central meeting point for German diplomatic, economic and business engagement in Vietnam. By bringing together government representatives, business leaders and international institutions, Deutsches Haus continues to support meaningful connections and long-term cooperation between Germany and Vietnam.
